As opposed to July 2009 that had just two ports, a shooter and an arcade game, August is looking a tad more promising and here’s what it has in store for gamers:
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (PC Xbox360 PS3 PS2 PSP Wii)
Yes I know it’s a movie tie-in that in all probability is going to suck but there’s no harm in thinking that maybe this could be the one that redeems it all. Anyone? No? Ok then.
Wolfenstein (PC Xbox360 PS3)
Resurrecting an old franchise is never an easy task but developer Raven Software did it once before with Quake and now they plan on doing it once again with Wolfenstein in which you’ll step into the boots of B.J. Blazkowicz. as he lays to waste tons of Nazis and their pesky occult ways during World War II.
Batman: Arkham Asylum (PC Xbox360 PS3)
Even though I’m not a big Batman fan this is one game I’m definitely looking forward to since it looks like it's struck a fine balance with both stealth and balls-to-the-wall gameplay. As the Dark Knight you find yourself stuck in Arkham Asylum for one night fighting for your life against all of its insanely dangerous inmates. Oh and in case you didn’t know, the PS3 version of the game allows you to play as the Joker as well.
Shadow Complex (Xbox360)
Even though there’s no word on Gears of War 3 till date, Epic Games – in conjunction with Chair Entertainment – have been working on a brand new side scrolling action game called Shadow Complex that looks pretty promising with its intense 2D gameplay and lush, gorgeous visuals courtesy of the Unreal 3 engine.
Ashes Cricket 2009 (Xbox360 PS3 PC)
I personally don’t like cricket but I’ve heard people enjoy England and Australia going to town on each other during the Ashes series and this game promises just that. Besides capturing that ongoing rivalry the game will also feature test matches, 20/20 matches, local and online multiplayer and lots more.
