Go ahead, skin your Google Chrome
Google has rolled out a themes gallery for the Chrome 3.0 browser developers and beta testers. With 29 themes, Chrome is nowhere close to the number of themes already available for Firefox and Opera browser. Two days back, Firefox announced that its Personas aka Themes gallery hit 20,000 personas, of which 10,000 came in last 10 weeks from now. Google's Chrome is slowly taking steps to bring in the skinning feature like other browsers.
Skinning or applying themes to the browser is one of the cosmetic changes which users like to do. Google Chrome 3.0 beta meant for developers is testing themes with .crx extensions. Some themes are large in file size as a background image showing Chrome's new tab page.
Just like Google has been adding number of themes to its iGoogle start page service, probably same treatment might be given to the Chrome 3's Tab page. Every browser uses complimenting theme technology and Google is trying to do the same with Chrome.
Those interested in trying Google Chrome 3.0 beta, can download it from here and check out the Chrome 3.0 compatible theme gallery to apply the theme of their choice.
